        Hi guys!

As I mentioned in my first POST, I am a new bunny mom after rescuing Skippy from a bad home situation. He is only 7 weeks old, and he was NOT getting a proper diet where he was. (Two full carrots a day, Timothy hay instead of Alfalfa, etc.) I know that bunny pee changes colors due to what they eat, but it’s more the consistency of the pee that concerns me. It looks fairly thick… though I admit I don’t know what regular bunny pee looks like, either. So I was wondering if the more experienced eyes could tell me if this is normal… or if this is something I need to be alarmed about and go find a bunny vet.

        Thank you for your time!

To be honest I cannot tell what that is. But at his age he would most likely not have bladder sludge.

Two full carrots a day is too much too – perhaps that is why the urine is so orange.

Honestly, that doesn’t look like bunny pee. It looks more like congealed jello with bacon and peaches in it. Is it old and dried?

Timothy hay is fine for all age bunnies; for baby bunnies, timothy hay plus alfalfa based pellets is a good combination.

This doesnt look like a sludge. A sludge looks more like a paste..it looks chalky. I agree with Sarita, it might be the large quantities of carrots that might be contributing to such an orangish color.

@Jack Rabbit : Hahahahhahaha…I felt similar but couldn’t find the right words to describe it.

MandyMarie, reduce the carrot intake (1 carrot or 1/2 carrot a day) and check for changes.

At 7 weeks, pellets, hay, and water are all that he needs. It really is a good idea with any new bunny to find a rabbit savvy vet and take him in for a checkup (no matter what his pee looks like), and you can address any concerns with the vet.
