I would really like to get Pumpkin a buddy; we talked about it all the time w/ Boston. But I want to do this right so I have questions.

Should we wait until we’ve had Pumpkin longer so she has more time to adjust and get comfortable?

Does it matter which breed we bond her to? I mean do Lion Heads do best with Lion Heads or does it really not matter?

For those of you with bonded pairs; do you feel neglected? Sounds like a selfish question, but I don’t want to lose my snuggle time with Pumpkin!

When we decide to find another bunny we will adopt again. Do you think the Humane Society will let us bring her there to see if she even likes the bunnies we consider?

I’m sure I’ll have more questions as we make this decision. Nothing set in stone yet but if we are going to do this, want to do it before kids!

In my opinion, breed, age and gender doesn’t play much, if any, role in bonding. It’s all about personality compatibility.

My five rabbits are bonded and they act pretty much the same towards me as they did before they were bonded. Some people do experience being more “left out” after bonding though.

I think one of the best ways to find a bunny friend is to go on bunny dates at rescues and shelters. That’s pretty much what you’re talking about with bringing your bunny along and having intro sessions to find a good match before making a decision. You might also want to find somewhere that does foster to adopt type situations. That would allow you to attempt bonding without committing to being a forever home for a new bunny in case the bond doesn’t work out and you cannot keep both separate.

MoveDiagonally; are all five of your bunnies together? That’s incredible! And I love your pictures! Look at those ears!

They are all bonded together. The long eared ones are English Lops.

I don’t feel neglected by my bonded pair — with mine, whatever one does, they both do, so instead of one bunny climbing on me I have two. The flip side is true too though — if one gives me the bunny butt then I’m likely to get bunny butted by both! Mine have never really not been bonded so that may have some affect, and neither of them are lap bunnies. My single bun has always been more of a cuddle bun, but I think that goes more by the bunny’s personality than whether or not the bunny has a bonded bunny or not.
