Pumpkin thinks she’s a cat. If my hand gets anywhere near her head she shoves her face at it until I start petting her. I love it b/c I feel like she is scared of everything else most of the time. Still trying to get her to give me kisses. Boston was a kissing fool–you hardly had to touch her and she was covering us in smooches

Do your bunnies act like cats and bug you till you pet them?

Any pointers to get Pumpkin to kiss me? I lay on the floor next to her and pet her for long periods of time with tiny glimmers of hope that this might be the day, but she never gives in!

Lol sometimes Rumpus does. Only ever if i’m sitting in the x-pen, and I stick my hand out in front of his nose, and he’ll just keep rubbing his head under my hand.

I don’t think you can make her kiss you. If your bunny feels comftorable kissing you, she’ll do it herself!

Yeah, bunnies are very much of the mind that they will decide when grooming/kissing commences.

Theodore isn’t interested in this at all, though he demands my attention at all times and nose-bonks me until I’m facing him or until I give him some pets.

Philomena doesn’t ever demand pets… She will bonk my feet to get my attention but she never actively asks to be petted. When I go to pet her and she hops away I leave her alone. Other times though she stays still and lets me pet her, and I know she enjoys it because she purrs when I rub just the right spot. However she never demands to be pet. It makes me sad sometimes because I feel as if she is just tolerating me…

I have found Flopsie has 3 phases of pets. She doesn’t want them, is ambivalent, and actually seeks pets.

When she doesn’t want them, she won’t give me the time of day. Even if she approaches me to lick me (bunny kiss), if I reach down and touch her, she will run away. She is usually ambivalent and tolerant after some exercise and she lays down sprawled out. During this time, I can sneak a few pets in. The only time I know she wants to be pet is when I put my hand on her face, she goes into a complete submissive position with her head all the way down on the ground. However, its almost 60%/30%10% for not wanting/ambivalent/wanting pets.

as far as kissing. It kind of depends if you bun is that type of personality. Mine does not like to be held in anyway or cuddle. But she loves to give kisses. I don’t think its something that you can force. However, your bun craves being pet and thats a good thing. Some bunnies dont even let others touch them

Little Lion Head, keep patience. Since kisses from a bunny is a sign of them being trustful of you, and bunnies anyways seem like timid and wary creatures, you might have to wait For how long she has been with you ?
I noticed this..that my Florida White Moshu started giving me a looooot more kisses when I took care of her and loved her when she was ill. Before that, she used to give me kisses often, but during and after that period of illness, our bonding grew. When you take care of them in their vulnerable phase, when they are weak and an easy target, they gain more trust. I have no idea how Lionheads’ temperament is but if you have had her only for 2-3 months so far, then dont worry, it will happen soon. Continue with those gentle head petting.

Thanks for all the advice. We’ve only had her a few weeks. And I totally get what you mean Avatika–when Boston was sick (head tilt), we literally nursed her back to health. We had a HUGE bond. Patience patience!! Pumpkin is getting more and more comfortable!

Sometimes Gus just licks our legs (when it’s shorts weather ha ha) but if I want a kiss I stick my face in his face and he starts washing me…but I check his breath first to be sure he doesn’t have poop breath. As long as she isn’t going to attack your face I’d try that. Gus is a big galoop. No matter how mad he gets at me, he would never attack. I’m stunned to have recently learned that people almost never make pets out of the Giant Chin. He’s soooo awesome!!!!
