Whenever my female bunny gets really excited, like when I let her out of her pen to run around, this putrid, skunk smelling liquid starts dripping out of her butt in small amounts. It smells nothing like normal poop or cecotropes and the consistency is not diarrhea. Its almost clear-brown but very watery and smells like skunk or car fumes. It only happens when she is happy and I cant figure out what it is! Is this the anal gland?

Bunny scent glands are in that area, and most definitely smell like skunk. I’ve never seen liquid dripping from any of my bunnies (I think the scent glands usually produce a waxy substance). I guess its possible she peed a touch and opened her scent glands when she got excited.

My bunnies (especially my boy) open their scent glands when they are startled (most often) and when another bunny has been around (occasionally). I don’t remember even Moshi doing this when he’s excited but it would not surprise me.

I cleaned her glands and they were horrible! I’m not sure why she drips but this has been going on for as long as I can remember.

Might want to ask a vet about this.
Sounds similar to something dogs get and there is treatment for it.
Also a local animal rescuer said too many green vegetables can cause diarrhea. You could slowly change her diet if you think this is the problem.
