So this past weekend I was home at my parents visiting my sweet little Meketater-tot and on the way back, my boyfriend and I decided to stop in at the Humane Society to look at puppies for fun and whatnot. Well… I never should have been allowed in the small animal section because I found the bunnies…

And there is this one. His name is Sox and he’s a mix rabbit and he’s cute… and he’s nine years old. He was brought to the Humane Society on the 9th of October this year and my heart just broke. He was sitting by his cage door looking like a perfectly round little meatball and just looked at me and I immediately fell in love with him. But I knew that I couldn’t take him because 1) the apartments I’m living in don’t even let me keep my Meketaten here, 2) I called my mom and she flat out said no second bunnies under her roof and 3) I have a rabbit savvy vet, but she doesn’t do spays or neuters, and while Sox is neutered, I’d have to find a vet to spay Meki and I’ve been looking for years with no luck within the state…

So the volunteer asked if I wanted to spend time with any of the rabbits and I said no because there’d be no turning around from that point even though there’s no responsible way I could take him. And I sadly walked out of the building and burst into tears just before getting into the car because I’m thinking of this 9 year old sweetheart of a man who’s just looking for a forever home for another year or two of his life and…. and oh look I’m crying again.

So Corey told me he’s never taking me to a Humane Society ever again unless I have the means to adopt a bunny because he had to buy me ice cream afterward to get me to stop crying.

I don’t know if I can provide the link or not to his adoption page, so if someone knows and can give me a confirmation or not I’ll post it later. I’m honestly thinking of calling up the humane society and asking if I can donate money to go to his care because I feel so in love with him and would’ve marched over to that front desk and put in an application of adoption if I had an apartment complex that would let me keep him

Oh goodness…I’ve done the exact same thing!!!I just have to content myself with visiting while the bunny is till at the shelter Darn apartments > Older bunnies especially break my heart. Is fostering out of discussion…?

Unfortunately fostering is out of the question =( It all goes back to how I can’t have him in my apartment, and the cage we have Meki in is the perfect size for her and isn’t big enough for two rabbits. *sigh* and now I’m back on my side of the state and can’t even go visit him anymore. Best case scenario is that he’s adopted by the next time I can get home so that I know he’s not still sitting in that lonely small animal room and found his family.

I can’t go to our SPCA either. It breaks my heart to see any older animal there.
