This afternoon I noticed that Rollo wasn’t being as active as normal, at first I thought maybe he was just tired because he was growing ( like when puppies sleep more often when they grow). But when I got to his level and called him he didn’t come to me like he usually would. And when I offered him food he wasn’t interested.

I picked him up and he just snuggled into me. This worried me so I decided to take him to the emergency animal hospital. From there it was all so fast. His head lolled, and he started to seize.

He didn’t make it. He died in my arms in the car before we made it all the way. I still went in, just to be sure. They were great. They put me in a private room to calm down and wrapped him up in a blanket for me. But, now I feel like my heart has been ripped out.

After reading up on Stasis I am wondering if that is what happened.

I keep looking up expecting to see him running around.

I’m so sorry. Poor guy was just a baby. It seems like so often we have no idea what happened.

            Binky free Rollo . . .

I feel so guilty. Like I should have noticed sooner, gotten him there sooner. My family keeps telling me it probably wouldn’t have made a difference, that it wasn’t my fault. But his life was my responsibility.
              I failed him.

There could have been something else going on that you would have no way of knowing. I looked at your profile and it looks like he was only 2 1/2 months old. I could be wrong but at that age I would suspect a condition he was born with. It sounds like you really loved him and did your best to give him a great life for the short time he was here.

Thank you JackRabbit, my mom said the same thing. When she met him she thought he was awfully skinny for a baby bunny. ( that was a day or so after I got him) She said that generally babies should be plump, from having been on mothers milk and it was possible momma rabbit was overbred and not producing enough.
It was just so hard to watch him suffering, even if it happened quick. He made these horrible cry like sounds. It broke my heart to know he was probably in pain.

As hard as it was for you, be glad that it happened quickly and he wasn’t in pain for so long. He was an adorable bunny. I remember showing my hubby his picture and going on about his big ole ears. Maybe he was only meant to be here just long enough to touch your heart and leave a little part of his sweetness with you forever. I know it hurts, and am sending hugs your way.

Poor Rollo. I’m so sorry that he passed. At least he wasn’t alone; and he was obviously well loved.

I’m late to this too. So sorry to hear this. I agree with JR, it very well could have been something genetic. You had no way of knowing, so don’t blame yourself. You obviously loved him very much.
