Hi, I’m a new bun owner and my 3mo Dutch doe had been with me for about 9 days now. She’s healthy and running around so much my mum gets scared she would break something by the way she keeps zig-zagging in our terrace when she’s allowed out. I keep her in a cage and I kindasorta am not sure about the layout, I hope you guys can help.

So… here’s the current layout. It wasnt like this yesterday but I just got a pair of plastic carpeting-thingy (the black squares) so I decided to try it on her. Sadly, it…didnt work and I need to change it up a bit again.

The cage is wire-bottomed with a dropping tray under it and I’m worried about her getting sore hocks so I…bought the square things but now it just makes her cage stuffy any advices on what do I do now? Thanks a lot!

I would definitely get a bigger cage for her.. The House Rabbit Society states that the cage minimum is 2×4 feet, but many rabbit slaves give their bun much more room than that.

I am aware, yes, but I currently dont have enough room (and money) to do so, sadly So I have to make do with what the shop gave me while I save money to build an NIC condo :”

To clear out some, Chito can stretch in basically any direction she wishes if I remove all the thingies.

Is the reason she can’t have continual access to the terrace b/c you mom is worried about her breaking stuff? Is it possible to bunny proof the terrace.

The terrace is unfortunately beside the laundry section of the house so I dont think that’s possible. I’m planning to get a pen and a condo when I get more money so she can have the area all for herself. Anyway, the black blocks can be halved to 30×30, do you think i should chop a side off and add a litterbox or just leave it?

If money is an issue, post something on Facebook to see if anyone has a puppy cage or exercising pen that you can borrow. Also if you go online there are hundred of diy bunny cages that don’t cost alot.
