Hi everyone, i’m running out of hay and I need to get some soon. My bunnies didn’t really like this timothy bale I got them at the feed bin.

I’m wondering, what hay does your bunny absolutely LOVE, like eats all of the hay from the litterbox/rack/bowl and begs for more? My bunnies are very healthy, but I would like them to have more golden poops and lately they’ve been eating a lot of things they’re not supposed to….. (I have to quickly figure out a way to buy a new wire for my brothers video game, and I have to find a new wifi wire thing, and, finally, a new wire for this ancient printer my dad insists on keeping). The bunnies manadged to move their pen and they pulled all the wires (they live next to a printer and a tv) into their cage and have a yummy snack.

        Thanks!

My bunnies are pigs. They love every kind of hay but I pretty much exclusively feed Orchard because it’s easy on human allergies. Most bunnies like Orchard so maybe that’s worth a try

I think hay is one of those crops that vary season to season and place to place so that is something to keep in mind….it’s not really just the particular type of hay but many times that particular crop of hay.

I usually buy the APD 2nd cut timothy hay and I used to buy from KMS and both companies try to give the best hay possible…

Pete likes the crunchier bits of his timothy, and of course the yummy tufts; but he will move his orchard hay bin toward me when it’s empty.. Once I refill it he pulls it back into his cardboard cave. lol He gets a mix, but it seems that if he has only one type of hay available he loses interest in it.

Cottontail — that is too funny! You have a very smart bunny!

My buns have always eaten 2nd cut timothy and I try to mix in orchard grass hay as well since they love both.

I was giving my bunnies orchard grass hay. One liked it. The other not so much. I needed to get the other one to eat more hay. From info on binkybunny, I tried oat hay. It was a big hit with both bunnies. I also tried the blue grass blend on binky bunny and it seems to be popular too. Not so popular was the botanical hay.

My guy likes 2nd or 3rd cut timothy hay I get it in the square bales from my local feed store so its cheaper. I also give my guy a handful of alfalfa every day because he’s still quite young.

Okay thanks everyone! When I first got my bunnies, they were eating oat hay and they really liked it (I had to stop feeding it to them though because the feed bin that carried it was too far away).

I think every few months i’ll buy a selection of different hays, and mix them all together so the bunnies can eat whatever they wish.

My buns are huge fans of Oxbow western timothy. They eat tons and tons of it (after their last boarding, the vet tech remarked that they have to make sure my buns have a new pile on every shift change because they eat more than any of the other rabbits that come in, which made me feel like a proud mama!).

Is the botanical hay OK to feed regularly? Gus really took mouthfuls of that when I bought some as I got tired of hand feeding one strand of timothy (had to be just the right one) at a time. It wouldn’t be the only hay
