I want to build Midas an NIC condo really badly, but I don’t have any ideas on how to set it up.

How many floors are in your cage?

How many packs of the cubes did it take to build the condo?

What are the dimensions of your condo?

What flooring do you use for your condo?

Where did you get your cubes to build the condo?

How are the different levels supported? (What did you do so the other levels don’t cave in?)

        What is inside your cage?

How much did it cost for the whole thing?

Feel free to tell me anything else about your condo, or even post pictures. Anything would be helpful Thank you so much guys, this is super helpful.

          Hey there!
          1. 2 floors.
          2. I think I used two packs of 25 grids.
          3. My condo has a 2×5 base and 2×2 loft area (measurements are in grids). However, my bunnies are never locked in the condo. They have the whole house 24/7.
          4. Right now I have linoleum and fleece, but soon I plan on changing to rubber garage flooring. (Don’t do this if your bunny is a chewer!)
          5. I got mine from target, however recently (after I bought mine) they have changed their grids and they are no longer safe to use. Bed, bath, and beyond sells grids, as do most home-improvement stores.
          6. My loft is actually halfway on a shelf that is screwed to the wall. On one of the sides I also use a wooden pole ziptied to the bottom of the grid.
          7. I keep the litterboxes, food bowls, water bowls, some toys and chews, and beds in the condo.
          8. After the flooring, I think I will have spent less than $70 on the condo.
I am not at home, but I will see if I can get you photos when I am.

Lets see …. Kieko has the condo all to herself so … .

            3 levels

4 grids wide, 4 grids tall, 2 grids deep

Flooring and levels are 1/2 inch plywood covered with textured sheet vinyl

Ramps to both levels (plywood with rumble strips and small hay mats fir traction

Levels are supported with 1×2’s and zip ties

2 center grids on the front open full height for doors, with one grid on top level (where she spends most of her condo time) opening independently

Plexiglass (@ 7 inches tall) goes the width of the two upper levels at the front so she doesn’t try to jump off

Slats at each level hold the doors against each level, and a baseboard goes all the way around the base with part of it acting as a slat at the doors

            Caster underneath

Held together by tins of zip ties (@ 4 or 5 on each grid edge and criss-crossed zip ties everywhere 4 grids meet except at the doors

2 full length 1x2s in the top grid square and centered under the roof for additional support for stuff sitting on top

The thing weighs a ton and is super sturdy. How much $ into it . . . @ $400 — don’t freak! Because it’s 56″ wide, we had to buy larger pieces of stuff and had alot of scrap. The plexiglass was expensive too, and I don’t think others do anything like that — it seems to mainly give Kieko something to rattle at this point.

This old post from years ago when I first built Porky’s condo answers all those questions and more.

              https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tab…fault.aspx

His condo has under gone a few renovations since then, the most significant being the addition of his “porch” area.
