Hello there guys! I’m all new here but I am so excited to finally be apart of a bunny forum! I’ve had bunnies for years now, always loved their company and all the silly messes they get themselves into!
Backstory, I had a bunny growing up, she was the greatest little thing! Mini Lop, super loving and caring. She would nuzzle my leg until I gave in and cuddled with her while watching tv! She passed away some years ago and I miss her so much. Either way, she had a very long and exciting life. We traveled together and had lots of fun! She also had a friend, it was our cat. They played some and hung out.
I decided a year ago to get bunnies again. But this time I wanted to help some poor fluff out and adopt from a shelter. Literally the day after the choice was made I see this new posting with two rabbits who supposedly have been together their entire life. They were 3 years old and that’s all they would tell me.
I visited and my goodness they were adorable and I just couldn’t help myself. So one thing led to another, and now I have two fluffballs running around my couch or just being bananas under the TV.
Now, getting these guys, I realized early that they probably haven’t had much human interaction in their earlier home. So sad, who wouldn’t want to cuddle these guys? So at first they were very timid of me. I’ve worked at it though, they got used to my voice because I talked to them a lot, and smell cause I’d lie down on the floor very still and let them sniff and stuff. Now. They do not let me pet them. I have picked them up to get their claws done, and I can carry them, even though they hate it. Which is fine with me. But I really wish to become Good friends with them. If I hold out treats or something yummy they let me get one maybe two strokes in before they take a few steps back. I usually sit on the floor and have the treats in my hand, right over my legs, so they have to kind of climb on me a little to get to it, and they don’t mind doing that. They also on occasion have jumped up on the couch while I was sitting there, but left shortly after because they realized I was there.
Now my thought is perhaps adding a baby bunny, someone who I can teach that humans aren’t bad the other two might go along when they see how much love and cuddles the baby bunny gets. I just want to make sure first of all that the baby bunny will be safe. I know how to introduce new animals to each other, but I just want to make sure that it’s a good idea to add such a young thing to teens! Also if you have any suggestions on how I can win these suckers over that’d be amazing!
Also, here’s my two nerds! Made it into my Christmas card last year, such a success!
