Hello, this morning I did my usual routine with the Flopster

After I feed her and clean her bowl, I will clean out her litter box like a good hoomin slave.  My payoff is that I get to pet her head for a bit as she seems more receptive to head rubs in the  morning before diva/brat mode begins later in the day.

One of the things I like to do is to check her teeth, although secretly I get a kick out of parting her puffy, fluffy lips (are they lips?) and examining her nice white chompers.

Today, as I was doing it, I noticed some hay stuck on the face of the tooth (not in between).  I tried to clean it off, but she got annoyed and turned away.  After a few attempts, I managed to get rid of the piece of hay.

My question is, does it matter? I mean, I know she doesn’t “brush” her teeth as we do, and i’m not aware of any chewables that clean the teeth like dogs.  So if I see a piece of food stuck, is that okay to leave it and know it’ll take care of itself or should I obsess over it and try to clean it off.

I also thought I saw some white stuff (plague??) but I can’t confirm because she was being squirmy -_____-

Yes, bunnies have lips. You don,t need to clean their teeth for them. They are very good at grooming themselves and will get annoyed with being prodded. Hay, even if stuck, will eventually be chewed. It is the best care for their teeth since teeth continually grow. Also willow toys are great. The hay chewing wears down the teeth keeping them low and clean. Hay helps with digestion, too, so be sure to give unlimited hay. The best one to examine teeth occasionally is your vet.
