I have two bunnies.  I got some great suggestions here about how to better house their hay.  It worked!  Then one bunny got sick and the vet really wanted him to eat more hay.  This bun has never been a big hay eater.  I did everything but dance to get him to eat the orchard grass.  Then I looked at some old posts here and they talked about all the different types of hay that the bunnies liked.  I tried oat hay and botanical hay.  They both really like the oat hay!  The sick bunny is eating it!!!

That’s awesome! I’ve been wanting to find oat hay around here and will likely have to order. It is good stuff to the buns! Hope your sick one keeps improving

Yay, I’m really happy that your bun likes oat hay! Mine is the opposite, lol – he loves Orchard Grass, and hates oat. I have bags of oat hay though because the gerbils love it – and I mean LOVE it. I put a handful or two in their cage, and the next time I look… their burrow is about an inch higher with hay. They love to snack on it too, lol.

My significant other has developed sth that perhaps is hay-allergy. He has a cold every morning when he wakes up among the bunny hay here. Then the cold goes away. I hope it’s not the hay. All Swedish hay is “meadow” and that always includes more or less timothy (the most allergenic of grassy hays). The only place around here that sells oat hay and other “special” types of hay is our vet and it’s of course crazy expensive.
