Ok, we found a young rabbit outside 6 months ago and rather than turn it in for euthanasia, we kept it. We cage trained her, now she is 100% litter trained and has free run of most of the house 24/7. She’s a well-trained little angel that never chewed anywhere.

I got her spayed 3 weeks ago and now she’s chewing everything in my house! She’s in her cage right now because I am trying to tape cardboard on my beautiful table (which tasted good apparently). I don’t know what to do. I feel like keeping her in her cage all the time is cruel, but I also can’t have this little maniac eating my furniture.

Does anyone know why all of a sudden a well-behaved rabbit has turned into such a little beast?

It is likely to be a hormonal thing, they wont have settled yet after her spay it takes around 4-6 weeks for hormones to settle down after a spay/neuter.

Absolutely, the spay can disrupt hormones and make them seem even worse for a little while!

Spend time re-evaluating your bunny proofing and provide a lot of distractions with bunny safe toys and activities.

Agreed. She has a bad case of the crazies. Give her a few more weeks, her hormones will level out eventually. Until then, consider restricting her access to everything or get ready to do some super bunny-proofing.
