Hi currently my 2 bunnies spend all day and evening indoors and go in their hutch in my garage at nights, but the other day I was having a chat at the shop I bought them from and they said I couldn’t do this and had to make a decision one way or another as to whether my bunnies were to be hutch rabbits or indoor rabbits, he didn’t say why this was the case so I’m a little confused, can anyone shed any light on this ?

Haha, did you ask them for a reason why? Kind of sounds like a meaningless and arbitrary thing to me. The only thing I could see being an issue is confusion around what is and isn’t their territory, but I don’t even think that would really be an issue.

Pet shops often don’t really know what they’re talking about, or they spread incorrect/arbitrary info. I can think of no reason why you’d have to decide on one place over both.

The only reason I can think of would be drastic temperature changes.

That is actually a really good point – bunnies hate temperatures changing a lot on them. And when I say hate, I mean their bodies can’t handle it well. They can handle minor changes, of course.

To be fair my garage would be drastically colder than my house especially if it gets snowy ect perhaps I better invest in a indoor cage for them as there’s no way I’m giving up having them indoors, I’d miss them too much and I can’t bear the thought of them being stuck in a hutch 24/7 as their used to having the run of the front room

Okay, so the change in drastic temperature is actually a legitimate concern. I would agree that you should invest in a better cage for them to live indoors, I think that’s your best solution.

Last night we brought the outdoor cage into my front room and we’re just going to put higher wooden bits round the side so the wood shavings don’t get kicked out everywhere, we looked at indoor hutches but couldn’t find one we liked as much as our outdoor cage so this is the best solution for us, we now have to just move some of the kids toys into their bedrooms to make room for it as the hutch is standing in the middle of the room at the moment
