I am sorry if I have put up a similar topic in near future. I think the antibiotics are doing their work because Moshu’s urine scalding seems to have stopped. I mean, there isnt any further hair loss at the region.

I apply a thin layer of Neosporin (minus the pain relieving stuff) twice a day.

I want to know what should I use to clean the area ? I use diluted hydrogen peroxide for an injection scab that Moshu had recently. Moshu shows no sign of pain or discomfort while I clean the scab with it. But I think hydrogen peroxide, even when diluted, would be too harsh for the urine scald..isn’t it ?

What should I use to clean it ? And how long from now can we expect the fur grow to back ?

If the fur doesnt not grow back in 2-3 months, is that an indicator that the infection has not subsided ?

I would be inclined to just use a gentle pet shampoo but you could use a dilute iodine or chlorhexidine if you wanted.
There are washes and medicated powders with chlorhexidine. I’m trying to look up some brand names for you.

Good to hear you’re finally seeing a result! If the area is staying dry now, you should see new fur growth within weeks. It won’t be back to what it was like before for several months though.

A herbal pet shampoo would be okay, I guess. They are often gentler.
I can see a bit of hair growing back..bit by bit. I’ll keep checking the area often. Thanks JerseyGirl
