I always bake tons of pumpkin cookies this time of year, which means my cat gets her occasional treat of canned pumpkin (not pie filling, just pumpkin).  I have looked around and can’t seem to find yes or no on whether or not pumpkin and other such squashes are okay for bunnies for a treat?  I don’t see why they wouldn’t be if no sugar has been added, but just wondering about the general consensus here while I continue my research.

The pumpkin I use most often is Libby’s 100% pure pumpkin.  Here’s a link to the nutrition label.
Yay or nay as possible treat?

It’s not dangerous, but it’s not recommend to give them too much – canned, mashed pumpkin (no sugar, etc.) is often given to rabbits who are recovering from an illness and need extra fiber. A very, very small amount is really all they should have.

            Thank you funny-looking-rabbit
I think I’ll probably hold off on giving him any directly unless the vet recommends; but felt I should ask since Pete and Zoey always have to see what the other one is getting (nosey little things!). I didn’t want him to get his nose into it if it turned out to be dangerous for him.

Hahaha, this is probably the best way to go.

Pure pumpkin is good to have in your bunny emergency kit. Grab an extra can to have for that.

I’m not sure if this helps??? But I buy fresh pumpkin every once in a while for us and I don’t hesitate to include it (raw) in Henry’s dinner. I was just told not to include the seeds. Henry loves his pumpkin! And sweet (orange – NOT white) potato. YUM!
