my rabbit is losing hair by the hand full, kind of like he is molting. He is eating and drinking normal. He has a bald spot on his back by his tail. We have given him oatmeal baths because his skin is flaky and itchy. he has other spots that the hair has come back but this one spot is not growing hair. He has been a member of the family for two years now and this is new problem. I don’t think this is normal please if any one has any ideas for me please help me , thanks worried mom.

It sounds like it very well may be a case of mites, especially if there is flaky, dry, or red skin. You may want to consider taking him to the vet to get the proper cream administered and prescribed.

Chunks of fur missing during a heavy molt is not unusual. The flaky, itching skin a little more worrisome. Are you able to take him to the vet to see if it’s mites?

I’m not sure I would recommend any bathing for a skin issue-rabbits really shouldn’t be bathed. I would go to a vet to find out if there is an issue as soon as you can-could be a parasite or some other condition.

              Keep us posted!

That’s true KK. It could be contributing to the problem.
