Well, I’m finally getting around to making formal introductions here. I have held off almost a week now, for fear of judgement or what people might think. Then I realized, who cares? I’m the one who has to clean their poop!  So please allow me to introduce our new warren members – Potus and Ansel(or Annie) They are both shelter buns. After Biscuit died, I found myself searching the local shelter, on the off chance they’d have a bunny. They had 2! Finally last Monday, my husband and I went out there. They told us, up front, they had little knowledge of rabbits, but that these two had been there several months and were both somewhat aggressive. Challenge accepted! So I opened their cages, and they were quite happy to have a nose rub. After some discussion, my husband said we could get both. The shelter said both were girls. That’s fine.  Then when the lady went to retrieve Annie from her cage, she mentioned “Yeah, I’m not very good at scruffing them. I get tore up everytime I have to take one out.” No wonder they’re aggressive bunnies! She must have caught her nervousness at witnessing the scruffing and let us get both buns out. Now that they are home with us, they definitely have problems with having their backs touched. Annie is indeed a bit aggressive, but if you let her sniff your hand first and move slowly, she seems ok. Its only if she thinks you’re picking her up. Oh! Turns out Potus is a boy! He’s definitely got some bits going on lol. Our goal is to bond Annie with Obie and Hazel with Potus. We went ahead and made Annie’s cage next to Obie. At first he was angry, but now they hang out in the same corner together and she litters in the same corner he does. (litter habits need some work lol) Potus has the weirdest coloring. He kinda looks like a Siamese cat. His coat isn’t white, but cream with brown guard hairs, so it creates a two-tone effect. After looking it up online, it seems he may be an American Sable, but not sure. Also, what are some adult size indicators? Potus has huge ears, head, long front legs and big back feet. His body is small in proportion. He’s like a gangly teenager lol.

        Without further ado, the pictures!!

WHAT??? Your very sneaky BM! Lol!
I haven’t even read all your post yet…. ha ha ha! I just wanted to say that…..

Edit to ADD – OMG they are both so beautiful! Congratulations!  How could or would anyone think poorly of you for taking in 2 bunnies, especially under those circumstances, just cause you recently suffered a loss. Everyone recovers differently – I said no more pets EVER! after I lost Molly (dog) and look at me now (idiot! ha ha ha!) with Henry. If anything, I admire you more (I didn’t think that was possible – you and your hubby are SO cool! Lol!). I know you will love and adore them both and I give it no time before they will be showing you and the hubby the love. Good on you! Wishing you ALL ‘happy families’!

Congrats! They’re adorable! I especially love Potus’ color!

Don’t worry about anyone judging you. Sometimes loss leaves a hole that absolutely must be filled, and who’s to judge when it took two buns to patch the hole in your heart that Biscuit’s passing left. Aside from any possible judgements, you just gave two bunnies a new home.

Who would judge you? They look like two lucky bunnies who have found a great new home! Really cute too! I don’t know if ear or foot size has anything to do with adult size. I imagine he will fill out though.

Thanks everyone! I know I create a lot of my own “monsters” in my head when there’s no reason to worried. yes, I’m looking at this as challenge too, in trying to teach them love.

And thanks JR- that is very true.

                    Congrats to you and Hubby!
These 2 are fortunate you found them by the sounds of it.

Potus may be under a year old perhaps. Some can look gangly. Big ears and hocks and lean body.
His colour is seal point (like my Maple). Thanks to Hazel, I learnt seal points can get darker shading over the body as the seasons cool.
                    He’s a cutie!

As is Annie, she has sweet delicate little front paws and face. I guess she’s reacting to being around an intact boy? With littering and aggression. Not to mention mishandling at the shelter…
Hopefully you’ll see a turn around in her. Who couldn’t love that’s sweet face & spunkiness?!

Pictures are deceiving but is she a bit thin do you think? Or maybe quite young also…
I hope they didnt allow the buns to be together thinking they were both girls. Good thing you checked out if they were right!

Jersey, they were house seperately at the shelter, a distance apart. But I’ve thought the same about being kind of thin. She’s also very long and tube shaped when she stretches. Dunno if that’s just how she is or what. But both have adjusted quite well so far.

Both gorgeous… The littering in the same corner is a worry, for my Nermal De Nonoms and Pipi it generally means “If I can’t kill you I shall $*&! on your fence instead” Nermal is intent on building a poop fortress where ever Pipi sits near the Xpen and vice a versa.

Lol Roberta….I hadn’t thought of it that way. I just figured maybe since Obie went in that corner she should too. Maybe I can convince her otherwise lol
