I’m guessing she ate a few inches. It’s 100% polyester. It’s a thin sewing thread. I was drying out some greens on a string run across and I guess it snapped and while I was reading I saw it had fallen and she was eating the greens. From where the string was chewed off and how much of it was missing I think she probably ate maybe 6 inches.

What should I do? Should I make a vet appointment or just watch her for a while? I don’t want it to get stuck in her! It’s all my fault!

Bunny probably chewed through the twine to get the greens to drop… Make sure she is eating lots of hay and drinking plenty of water. Empty her litter trays so you can monitor poop out put it might be a good idea to book in with the vet and see if he suggests pre-empting any blockages with some motility meds.

It’s been nearly 24 hours and she hasn’t been acting anywhere out of the normal for her. I changed her cage and litter box right after it happened to monitor her poop and such. She’s been going normally but I haven’t seen any string. Just the usual shedding droppings and I’ve been checking them to make sure it’s not thread.

What if I never find the string?

If it is only fine sewing thread it is entirely possible she chewed it into tiny pieces or a ball of pulp and its worked its way out in the normal poop already.

Sounds like nothing to worry about…..

My boy is eating my bed comforter and still manages to poop! I’m not happy – unless he poops out a whole new one for me??? LOL!
I doubt a bit of thread would hurt – but always play it safe and encourage lot’s of hay, veg and water as Roberta suggested above when you catch on the bunny is eating more than they should be. Naughty bunnies!
