My rabbit was prescribed gentamicin sulfate eye drops and she told me to put one in his nose. I went to put one in and he moved his nose and ate it! Idk what to do is this okay?? Its super late and I’m debating on running him to an emergency vet but I really cant afford it I just need to know if this is something I need to run him in for

I have never heard of using that as a nose drop. I looked up drug information and there are no warnings saying not to give orally. Does your area have a pet emergency hotline? Sometimes they can advise over the phone if a drug or chemical is a cause for concern.

EDIT to add: Now that I think about it a little more, you would think that your vet would have given thought to that. If they said to put a drop in your bun’s nose, then some could eventually end up in their stomach (sinuses drain into the throat).

You could call the prescribing vet and ask. I hope LBJ is right, that the vet had considered that some would get into the bunny’s stomach even with prescribed use. It’s as she says, of course, put a fluid into a nose and some of it will get into the belly eventually. I looked it up on the HRS and it it is considered rabbit safe for oral use but “with extreme caution”. http://www.rabbit.org/health/antibiotics.html
