Well now that we have moved and I’m not working yet ( who wants to work when you live in such a beautiful state?) I want to try more Toytorrials. I only made #1 which my hubby had to put together because I just couldn’t figure it out. I went to the dollar store and all I found was a wad of very fine sisal string that looked like a bird nest. They had something called natural raffia. Can that be used? I went to Michael’s. The lady in the floral section gave me a nasty look which is most unusual for the south. She told me she had been doing that for 20 years and never heard of sisal string then steered me toward some green junk I had already seen and passed over. That natural raffia looks harmless. It’s a little hard to find floral shops here, and I thought that was where you get them, but thought I’d put out feelers about this raffia. I need to get busy soon before I start working and put this on the back burner again. Gus has a very busy mouth!

I’m not sure about raffia being bunny safe or not, but I want to say it’s palm fiber..

As for the sisal, anytime that I needed sisal rope or sisal twine I’d head over to Tractor supply or down to Lowes. I personally preferred Tractor supply because I had a lot of other items to pick up there like seeds, cat supplies, etc. I hope you and your bunny are enjoying your new home. I miss the South.

I’m not sure this helps but this site (http://www.auniqueidea.com/RABBITTOYS.html) has all kinds of rabbit toys made with natural raffia. It is a palm tree fiber, so I think it’s safe as long as it hasn’t been treated with any harmful chemicals.

After all that!! We used to have that (sisal) when I was growing up! And here I thought it was something exotic. Just got it today at Lowes and I’m pumped to start making toys ha ha. Oh the little things that make me happy.

I know what you mean Megabunny! I’m working on my hay “go to” boxes and just got a new order of orchard grass to try. The hay is nice and green. Aahhh!

While your making toys for Gus, make some extra for Henry! That will keep you super busy. And you can drop them off to me the next time you visit OZ!

I am late on this, but natural raffia is fine too. I think it is a little bit less string-like though.
I already have a whole box of toys for Henry!
