So I finally got Gorgi spayed [you read that right – she was a she all along (oops)] Anyway, she seems so sad, she barely got back from the vet and she doesn’t want to eat or drink or anything… she is just sad… I’m overly worried about her. I will give her her pain meds at 8:00 pm (currently 4:42 pm) but for now I’m worried sick about her eating, or drinking, she isn’t making an effort to do it and it’s stressing me. Any tips for a recently spayed bun?

Try offering her favorite salad ingredients, served wet (for hydration). She may still be a bit groggy from the anesthesia.

I’m thinking she still is “hung over” I offered her some fresh mint, a little piece of carrot and some fresh hay. I also gave her a warm bottle so she can lean against it and be warm. Currently she is just in a quiet “dark” room (my laundry place haha)

I was told that female buns take it hard and I can confirm that to be true for mine.

For the first 24 hours she just sat there barely moving. I was very worried about her

Also very worried about her eating something. Not so much due to her hunger but to make sure her gut moved. She nibbled on a little bit not a lot.

Try to give her space but make sure you can check to see if she isn’t licking her wound. Also try to entice with food. Use her favorite herb or green. Serve it wet so she has some moisture and have water easily accessible.

It’s pretty rough but they start coming out if it after first 24 hours

She already started having some nibbles of cilantro, some nice parsley and a bit of red lettuce leaf. She also had a few bites of her timothy hay. She isn’t nearly as lethargic or gloomy as she appeared before.

I gave her her medication a little while ago, she seemed willing to cooperate and she had all of her dose. The only thing she hasn’t done is pooped and drank water..

It’s good that she ate something. Keep hand feeding her and give her the greens wet so at least she can get some moisture

Eating is great. Poos should appear soon, so make sure you see at least some form of poop in the next few hours. Keep us updated on how the recovery goes.

She is so alive now! Today before leaving for class she was up and ready to run around haha. Of course I didn’t let her, she had Poops around her and she had peed (just liquid not cream colored thick liquid)! She also allows me to give her her meds without getting difficult which I am thankful for!

I just allowed her to have like a few minutes for her to stretch her legs and she appreciated it hahah she is much lovelier now than she was last night! C:
