        Moshu is undergoing a treatment for UTI, and has a bit of urine scald. I have Silverex at home ( Silver Nitrate IP, Ethyl Alchohol). Is that safe on bunny skin ?

        What other ointments are safe on bunny skin ? Do offer me any home remedies too that have worked for you.

          I would urge you to call your vet and ask for a recommended ointment that will be safe for Moshu, and not interact badly with the UTI treatment. A vet would know of any home remedies, but you shouldn’t apply anything without checking while under a vet’s care.

            Here is a link from Disabled Rabbits with some suggestions for urine scald:

              NO! DO NOT GIVE IT.

              Sorry to shout, but silver nitrate is toxic.

              You should stop using it too. Humans get away with using it to a certain degree b/c we are much bigger than rabbits and take a long time to build up enough to effect our health, but it is still toxic. Google argyria to find out more.

                I havent applied it yet, so not to worry. I never feed her anything, or administer any medicine to her without cross checking on several sources. I will ask the vet what can be applied on the scald.

                Sarita, I went through the article on disabled rabbit care website. Neosporin is available here. Hopefully minus the pain relieving stuff.

                @Eepster.. Argyria..this was scary o__o I will make sure Moshu is far away from Silverex ^^;;

                  I’ve used Silvadine which was invented for burn victims before – got it from my vet. Also I’ve used Calendula Cream before as well.

                    We get Silver Sulphadiazine in combination here . Either with Chlorhexadine Gluconate or Chlorhexidine Hydrochloride.
                    I found Calendula cream online. If I am not able to find any ointment suitable for Moshu, I will order calendula cream.
