        Hi all!

I was just wondering how often those of you with automatic (gravity) waterers change the barrel, and how often it should be rinsed out and refilled. Is it necessary to do this every day? Every other day?

        Thanks as always!

I personally change my bunnies’ water every day.

I would say to refill it every day if you can, but every other day if you can’t. I would scrub out the barell and bowl every other day.

I have a diy one with a 2 liter bottle for the barrel. With three rabbits drinking out of it, I rinse and refill it around twice a week. When it gets grungy I just replace it with a new bottle, which is about once a month for my buns.

Ours just arrived on Thursday and I haven’t started using it yet . … was waiting to see what you do! I checked to see if you had replied to this thread and realized you were the one who started it and asked the question!

My “plan” (or hope!) is to rinse and refill daily (no longer than every other day in a pinch) and wash weekly. Right now our is airing out on the dining room table (reservoir smelled like plastic and even though I’m going to use a filter that smell just bothers me).

This all sounds pretty reasonable to me. C: I have been changing it every other day, so I’ll keep doing that and then make sure to keep the barrel clean as well.

                Thanks guys!!
