        Hi all!

Last night during the night Oliver was making soft squeaking sounds. He did this about twice during the night and squeaked about 5 times each time he did it (he may have done it more though, because I was sleeping I may have missed it). Each time I heard it I got up and checked on him and he seemed fine.

This morning he seems fine. Since he’s older, he doesn’t hop around as much, but he’s as active as he usually is.

Yesterday he was quite calm. He spent the majority of the day napping with his ears down. However, he was still eating and was friendly if I approached him. So I assumed it was just one of his “tired’ days–he gets those now that he’s getting older.

BUT I’m not sure if his behavior yesterday is related to the squeaking overnight. What could this be? Should I take him to the vet?

        Thanks!

He may have a cold. When Luna was a baby she had a cold and made a squeking snoring sound when she slept. When I took her to the vet it turns out she had a cold.
How does his nose look? Any snot?

Nope his nose seems fine. If there is nothing wrong with his nose, should I just wait and see or would you recommend going to the vet?
I’m hesitant to go the vet because we’ve been going a lot this last year. He’s been having more health problems as he ages. The trip to the vet gets him really stressed out and I don’t want to bring him unnecessarily.

If the noise is constant while sleeping, plus sneezing plus snotty nose it is a cold. I guess it is hard to say because you don’t want to stress him out. I can usually phone my vet, tell them the symptoms of the buns and then they will say if a visit is needed or not. Could you do that with your surgery?

I would guess he’s fine. Take him to the vet if you’re concerned, but it doesn’t sound like you are.

Lizzie Ann–my vet is great except for the fact that I can’t call with general questions. Any time I try to call for information they say I should bring him in. I also never get a chance to talk to the vet, just the front desk ladies who don’t know much about rabbits.

I don’t know if I should be concerned. Oliver never had health problems until last Christmas. Since he’s my one and only bunny I don’t have any experience with changes with a bun. So I’m not super concerned right now given that he’s acting ok, but I don’t want to miss something important.

Thanks for the feedback! I’ll wait for now and watch his behavior.

My Strawberry makes this noise all the time if he’s sleeping hard. It’s like he’s snoring but it’s a squeak noise. He got a clean bill of health right before he came to us and doesn’t have any other issues…no runny nose, very active, friendly, not grinding teeth, no sneezing. The only thing that might indicate illness is that he doesn’t eat much but he is always eager to eat when I bring it in and he wasn’t getting any veggies before he came here so probably he’s just not used to them. Also I have read that Nethes don’t have big appetites. He eats hay like he’s never getting more and has to eat it all before it spoils. So I figure it’s just how he sleeps.
