Today while I was cleaning Gorgi’s cage, I noticed his left upper eyelid was swollen! It had some discharge… I am not sure where and how he got his eye like that since last night he was fine and neither of my rabbits have ever displayed eye discharge. I was thinking maybe it was a bug bite… Guys please give me advice I am overly worried about him. He isn’t lethargic or acting any different he is eating fine, drinking and acting like usual. I haven’t heard teeth grinding and he acts as if nothing was going on…

Could it possibly be a hay scratch or poke ? I would take him to the vet for a check as it may need some ointment or antibiotics, especially if there is discharge.

I am guessing it could be just that. I will just keep calm for now, let it rest over night (I cleaned his eye with cool water and a little clean towel) and it looked better. He could still open it and see through it so maybe it’s just a little “booboo”… Still I’m feeling nervous so I will schedule him an appointment for this week or so.

Its just strange it happened so quick without symptoms or anything.

Having had hay splinters before I know how painful they are and how quickly they can become infected. I would try to prioritise the vet appointment to prevent any infection getting worse especially around the eye area.

GOOD NEWS guys! So his eye is all normal now, I cleaned off a tiny bit of discharge that remained around his eye, and today he was just dandy. No more discharge or runny discharge around his eye. He was just fine and acted as his usual happy-self. Ready for his neutering in less than a week! c:

I’m sure it was just a bug bite. Today his eye was perfectly fine and he did quite a few binkies when he got to run around his favorite tree! c:
