After a long wait! I am finally getting my Baby bunny neutered [since he technically isn’t a baby no more hahah]
In anyway~ My primary concern is keeping him away from his friend [my other bunny~] I’ve come across articles that actually say that rabbits become lethargic when they are kept away from their bunny pals, so I’m stuck in the choice of keeping him away and just risking it or keep them near each other while Gorgi heals… Any tips?

You can just keep them in the same room with an x-pen down the room. Or in cages next to eachother.

Are they bonded now? Is your other bunny spayed/neutered?

If the other bunny is fixed, and they are bonded, then I would take them together to the vet for your baby’s neuter, and keep them together when they get home. It’s a great comfort to have a friend with you in a strange place.
However if they aren’t bonded, they can probably stay in their current arrangement-cages next to each other or whatever you have set up.

No actually. Since his buddy is slightly younger and hasn’t approached his puberty-zone age the vet recommends waiting one more month before we neuter him just to be sure. But they seem very close – and they have grown up together so. I am not entirely sure to be honest.

The vet recommended the night of the surgery he stays in a dark quiet room alone, but my worry is for the upcoming 5 days he would be in pain meds, he has to be cage ridden per se, to make sure his stitches are well and what not but i’d feel bad if he gets all lethargic because his buddy isn’t around. So :c

I would just keep him in a cage, close by his buddy where he can see and smell him.

Yeah, just keep him in a confined place for the first 3 days or so… Possibly longer if he still isn’t “himself”. Having his buddy in the same room should be ok… But if one or the other is obviously agitated being in close proximity, it may be a good idea to separate them into different rooms.

Unfortunately, we can’t really tell how they will react afterwards until the time comes…

                  Good luck with the surgery!
