Hi! I just got my male bunny a couple weeks ago and he was litter trained right away, he is also around 10-11 weeks old. But in the past 3 days he peed on my bed and keeps pooping on the carpet and in his litter box. Any ideas on how I can get him to keep going in his litter box instead of other places? He was doing really well until just a few days ago..

are you sure he’s not older? sounds like hormones might be kicking in already.
did the poops suddently get larger and kind of pungent? i know when butters first got fixed he was still dropping pills everywhere for a while and they were coated in male bun scent. get a large catsize litterbox so that you can fill one side with hay, so he can poop most of it out of his system while eating

I agree with longhairmike – I think that your bun might be a little older, and his hormones are starting to kick in. You may want to look into having him neutered when he reaches 5-6 months of age, but until then you will want to make sure, as longhairmike suggested, to have a big enough litterbox that is filled with hay and a litter substrate of some kind (I recommend CareFresh Ultra or CareFresh Complete). He may be marking some places he wants to claim as “his”, which unfortunately is pretty much going to continue until he feels like he’s done his job well enough. You may also want to try and avoid cleaning his enclosure while he’s inside – this can result in some territorial marking from some bunnies.

You want to start in a small area. Soak up any accident pee with a paper towel and pick up any stray poo and place it in the litter box. Clean up pee spots really well with a bunny safe cleaner. Add more litter boxes to the space if necessary. If your bunny is going in a particular spot then put a litter box there. As your bunny gets better and better with litter habits you increase space, ect…

As bunnies enter puberty which can be as early as 12 weeks for boys their hormones will enhance their marking instincts and they might have more litter box difficultly.

Another thing to consider is that beds and couches are notoriously trouble spots for litter box training. They smell a lot like humans and that can also trigger marking behaviors.
