  I have two boy bunnies that are about 3 months old and are just reaching puberty. Unfortunately for me this means they are becoming territorial and aggressive and I have had to separate them. They were raised together and have always gotten along perfectly until now and I’m concerned that having them separated may affect their relationship. I am currently unable to get them spayed as their balls haven’t fully dropped yet but I can’t even let them near each other anymore because the older brother just bullies the younger one and scares him a lot. After I can get them neutered will they be close and cuddly like they used to be or will I have to rebond them slowly? And is there a way to keep them interacting without the aggression until they can be neutered? I have tried putting netting up in the middle of the cage so they could still be “together” but the older one would just try and get through it and attack through the netting which was too stressful for my younger one so I just separated them completely. I just want my bunnies to get along again

  It will be more detrimental if they fight so keeping them separated until they are altered and you can reintroduce them is the best thing to do.

  Yes you will have to separate them completely from now on till neutering, and then go back to basic slow bonding 4 weeks after surgery (hormones take time to leave). So bathtub dates (neutral territory), clean everything with vinegar etc. Lots of topics advice on the bonding guide on the site to guide you through it. Just don’t stress about it, they probably won’t be best friends straight away again, it took mine ages to begin to like each other but it was worth it.
