Sorry if this is the wrong place for this question but I couldn’t think of anywhere else to put it..

So I have two bunnies (Midnight and Sapphire) but I have no idea what breed they are so I may need a bit of help!

They are both around 4 months old.

Midnight is black and Sapphire is a blueish grey

When they were 5 weeks old (ish) and their first night home

Some photos of sapphire, comparing her to the bowls may help you with size (they’re average sized cat bowls). We think she is a girl (she wont let us check to confirm and every time she’s been to the vet she’s been SUPER stressed and he didn’t want to cause furtherstress)

        yesterday

        a couple of weeks ago

also a couple of weeks ago, its hard to find a picture of her not flopped haha!

Midnight is a boy, he got neutered nearly two weeks ago.

nearly two weeks ago (when he came home from the vets, glad to be home haha!) he looks so chubby here XD

the same day, after the vets.. in his pet carrier

about two months ago.. he looks so tiny XD (i don’t know why the picture makes him look so small)

But yeah.. I don’t have their weights right now, any tips for weighing them?

Any help identifying their breed is appreciated, thanks

I am thinking that Sapphire is a mini lop.. I have no idea about Midnight though.

Midnight is probably a mix of some kind…it’s hard to truly know…pretty shiny fur!

I think Sapphire is a Mini Lop – usually Holland Lops have a shorter ear length.

I would say Sapphire is either a Holland lop or mini lop. Not much difference between the two except for size. Hollands normally don’t get bigger than 3 or 4 lbs, pet quality can get a little heavier. Minis can get up to @ 6 lbs. Both of my lops are Hollands — Moshi weighs 4.2 lbs and Marlee 3.2 lbs.

I’d agree with JackRabbit about Sapphire being a Holland or mini lop, and I’d lean more towards Mini lop due to her size. As for Midnight, he’s probably a mix, possibly with some Havana in there.

I agree Sapphire looks very much like a mini lop. That’s known as dwarf lop for you in Scotland. In Australia, we also follow the British breed names.

I couldn’t guess breed for Midnight. Hes pretty drn cute looking at the camera in that 2nd pic. In one picture he looks really shiny but not so much in the others. Black rabbits are tricky to photograph!
Did they print his weight on his paperwork from the vet?

ETA: did the vets instruct to keep Midnight & Sapphire separate for 4-6weeks after his desexing?

                    Thanks so much everyone!

Yeah JerseyGirl, he’s super shiny now! In the last picture he doesn’t look shiny at all, he had his old coat then (baby coat maybe? Its a slightly older pic) And he’s been shedding that out like mad XD he used to be pure black and not so shiny, now he’s really shiny and has a few white/grey hairs in him, his coat also isn’t as fluffy as his old one, its more glossy
Yeah they did print his weight out but I can’t find the sheet, DOH! He’s going back for his two week check up tomorrow so hopefully they’ll weigh him again
Yeah, they said to keep them separate for a few weeks which we’re doing, Sapphire can’t wait to see him!

If he is shiney, he could be a satin.  Satin rabbits have a nice shine to their fur.  They usually grow to be btwn 7 and 10lbs.  Mr jingles is a Satin and he is fully grown at 7lb.
