So, Puck was neutered yesterday, and since then we’ve had a few abrupt changes in his behaviour, so I have questions.

Puck has been a major chewer of cardboard since day 1, but he’s never really been much of an eater. But today he seems to have decided that eating the cardboard is the way forward – is this something I need to worry about? He’s not remodelling quite as much, but he’s eating a lot of the card he’s ripping off :/ He’s still eating his hay, he’s perked up a lot form yesterday, bouncing around, coming for cuddles etc so I don’t think it’s affecting his appetite.

He’s also taken to lying in his litterbox – is this normal? Is it because the hay is cushion-y? I tried putting a blanket in his cage about a week ago but he stopped using that part of his cage, so I took it out :/ Should I try him with a small towel/piece of fleece or something?

On a slightly divergent note, a few days before we got him neutered, Puck’s litter habits improved significantly while he was out of his cage – normally I’d have to clean up 3 or 4 puddles in the morning/afternoon and then again (if not more) in the afternoon/evening. But the 3 or 4 days before he was neutered I had to clean up a grand total of two tiny puddles over the 4 days, the rest of the time he used the litter tray. Am I horribly naive to hope he might keep this up now that he’s been neutered??

Sorry if this is unnecessarily convoluted and makes no sense, I keep being distracted by the little monster wanting attention lol It’s a hard life

I probably wouldn’t take the one day after neuter or just one day as a total change in behavior – lots of things happening – probably still recovering from the neuter and soon he will be going whacko until those hormones die down.

As for litter training – you need to continue the training – neutering helps but it’s not a miracle changer that they will just remember to use the litter box :~)

Lol I don’t imagine an overnight success, it was more that I was hoping that because he started getting better before he was neutered that he won’t be too much worse as a general rule

I agree with what Sarita has said above. Also something to note at least with my experiences your rabbit’s behaviors may change or habits may get better or worse until hormones settle back down. My boy rabbit was bouncing off the walls and chewing everything he could get his teeth on for a few weeks. It was the same with my girl bunny as well.
It sounds like he is doing well since his neuter I wish you the best of luck!
