My cousin living in Florida, USA just rescued a couple month old bunny, but the breed wasn’t known at time of adoption and so she was wondering if I knew. I’m stumped. This is the only picture she has of him currently She said his back feet have a lighter chocolate color on the bottoms and his front feet have “showshoes” or white paws.

I realllyyyy want to say he looks part Havana at least, but I’m so biased because I’ve only owned Havanas and have rarely been around other breeds to REALLY know. Any ideas?

          Aw!
          Haha snow shoes. Very cute!

It’s most likely he is a mix breed and would be near impossible to determine exactly what.
The markings (white on nose, the white paws) is due to the Vienna gene. These buns can be called both Vienna Marked or Dutch Marked (as looks similar to Dutch breed marking). Those marking can occur across the breeds.

I suppose it is possible he has the actual Dutch breed in his makeup.

When he’s fully grown she might have some more clues. The weight and shape might indicate what he is but my money is on him being a mix!

Most likely a mix.. Possibly a havana mixed with a dutch? With mixes you can get a huge variety! so it really is hard to tell, because the possibilities are endless.

His ears are big, but not huge. I sort of thought dutch, b/c of the partial vienna marking mixed with one of the giants like flemish, since the ears are much bigger than you’d expect on a dutch, though not as big as flemish ears usually are. When he’s full grown, weight will be a good clue.

Thanks to everyone so far! I relayed the guesses to her, but I’m definitely seeing how he could be part Dutch! She said she guesses he’s about 5 or 6 inches long (as he sits) right now. I thought the ears looked big, too, so I suggested maybe even hare breeds like the Tan. It’s not a huge deal for my cousin, but she did want at least a guess on the breed =)

Thanks again, and if anyone has any other guesses we’d love to hear them!
