I have decided to up Luna’s pellets as I think she is too thin.

She is 6 months old and I brought her home when she was 8 weeks and she has always been tiny and lean-looking. She is a Netherlands Dwarf, although she doesn’t look at all like one. I can’t remember how much she weighs, she has seen the vet multiple times since I have had her and he has never shown any concern to her weight.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

She looks fine to me. My Netherland is 1.5 pounds and he’s full grown and he looks similar to this – they are just small rabbits.

oh great I mean she eats loads, poops loads and it is normal looking and she is my most active bunny, running and jumping all over the place.

She’s a cutie! My rabbit is 5 years old and is very active and fun still at his age.

Awww that is great to hear! Maybe it is the breed then because my lops are lazy. Hehe.

I think she looks great too. My lops are chunky, but Kieko is much thinner, more of a “tubular” bunny!

She will probably fill out a bit with age, no need to force it now.

As far as her not looking like a nethie, she just isn’t a perfect show quality bunny, only a few bunnies fit the standard perfectly.

Run your hand along her back – if you can feel her spine really prominently and it’s very bumpy she is too thin. You should be able to feel it, but there should be a reasonable amount of padding around it so it still feels sort of smooth. I hope that made sense

I think she looks fine, especially if she is eating all the food you are putting out

Aeyja, what position are you referring to when doing the spine feel. When my bun is on her paws but not sitting (e.g., front paws are flat), i can feel the spine but shes kinda big and thick though

Oh gosh, whatever position I can touch them in LOL. I guess just standing, or when lying on tummy. You should be able to feel it, but if when you run your hand down it you can feel every little bump that’s when they are too thin. When I first got Harvey he was really underweight and when I ran my hand down his back it was like little judder-bars, now that he’s a bit fatter I can still feel the spine but it is much smoother. I don’t think I’m explaining myself very well

Your little one looks healthy. =]

Aeyja what you’re saying makes perfect sense. It’s the same for cats and their ribs. =]
