Merlins half in and out of his fur, he’s got a big stripe down his back/head/shoulders gone, but his back legs, bum and tummy are still fluffy. I’m doing daily grooms and plucking any spare white ‘fluffs’ and getting massive balls of fur.

My question is, should I do it like this over a number of days/weeks or just pin him down and groom him till its all gone? I’m v thorough with my grooming but I’m aware of the dangers of him ingesting all the spare fluff. I dont want to damage his skin with over grooming though

So what should I do? Go at his pace and de-fluff as his hair is loosening? Or get it all out in one sitting?

Personally, I would go at his pace. When my bun is molting, I groom several times a day, plus plucking fur gently as I pet him. It helps to dampen your hand to get out the free fur. Hopefully that helps, good luck
