I’ve had my bunny 3 weekish now and about two weeks ago she started gathering hay in her mouth and carrying it around. I read it’s a sign of pregnancy or false and they do it for nesting, she just started making a nest out of the hay a couple days ago, before she’d just scatter it everywhere. I’m pretty sure she’s not pregnant, I don’t have another bunny and the lady I got her from didn’t either. Unless the person before the lady I got her from had a male (the previous person hot her then had to get rid of her). How long do false pregnancies last? Since I’m pretty sure it’s been over the 30 days a rabbit pregnancy usually is. Could she just being gathering for fun?

I would check with the vet just to be positive it is a false pregnancy. Sometimes un-spayed females with exhibit nesting behaviors because they are so ready to have babies! These behaviors can range from carrying around hay, making a nest, and excessive digging (Like she is burrowing.) How old is she? If shes around 4 to 6 months I recommend getting her spayed.

pregnant rabbits carry their babies very high, so all you would see is just that your bunny looked a little overweight. However, it could be false. Is she pulling fur out to line the nest? If she’s the bun in your avatar she’s adorable

if you can’t take her to a vet right now, you can also just wait and see   If she is really pregnant it is too late to do anything about it. be aware that bunnies hide their babies very well, so be very careful where you step and reach, especially in litter boxes or hay boxes.

She had babies 3 actually. She didn’t start pulling hair till right around the time she gave birth. When I woke up in the morning there was hair in one pile and it was moving lol. She was fine when I went to sleep. I did notice she was looking kind of fat but I never knew she was with a male. That is her in the pic, her babies look just like her well as much as they can naked lol.

Good to know! What will you do with the babies?

Uh oh, I guess she was around a male. That’s one of the problems of not knowing the bunny’s background and what kind of situation they were actually in before you got them.

You will want to make a little nest box so the babies can stay safe. A small cardboard box will work.

I think I’ll sell them I don’t have the room to keep them. They’re in her litter box she does have a box in her cage but she put them in her litter box (a small triangle shaped one in the corner) so I didn’t want to move them.
