My boyfriend and I are going on a 7 hour car ride this Friday to visit his dad. We would much rather take Albert with us because we do not feel comfortable leaving him with a bunny sitter. I am worried about how long the car ride is and if that will affect Albert. We return Monday so it is not a long trip. Would it be okay for me to take him with us or what should I do? Any tips?

I would avoid such a long drive. That’s 14 hours in 4 days. That’s a lot of stress on a bunny. Stressed out bunnies can develop stasis. Is there no friend or family member who can stop by and feed/check on him if you leave him home? If there is a House Rabbit Society Chapter in your area they could recommend a boarding facility.

I agree completely, that is a very long ride for a short trip. For that length of ride, I probably wouldn’t take him unless you were going for 2+ weeks. Bunnies need time for their system to regulate after a long trip like that before being all shaken up again with the return trip.

He shouldn’t need much care for only 4 days, someone to stop in once a day to feed/water and give more hay is enough.

Bunnies hate car rides! As others have said, is quite a bit of a ride so if its avoidable then that would be best.

If you must i would recommend not having a huge carrier or box in case a sudden stop might injure them. When I had to take them on trips, I would also step frequently for them to rest and also have fresh veggies with water so that they can much on during breaks
