Hey everyone! Back on the forum after a loooooong semester at school! Anyway, just a quick question today…

Anyone have any suggestions or activities to do with a bunny that would help human to bunny bonding, and allow the animal to become more comfortable with human interaction? Quite an open thread, thought it would help if people could share their knowledge and experience!

        Thank you!

Hi stranger!!! Oh gosh, the only thing that gets Henry’s attention towards us is food. And not bunny food – human food! Whenever we get into bed with food, whether it be a drumstick, Hungry Jacks, a packet of chips – Henry is right in our face, climbing up our arms with us fighting him off, pushing him away, ha ha ha ha! And as soon as the food is gone, so is he! I just found out the other night he likes chocolate! Good grief! LOL!

Hope you did well at school Kate and it’s so nice to see you back. Cheers, Andi.

Andi my bunny Usagi seems to be really interest in human food as well. He goes crazy when he smells our food. If He can he will try to get it.

As for bonding with your rabbit the best way for me is just getting on the floor with them offering a treat and just being with them helps them warm up to you. I would sit on the floor and offer toys like magazines , toilet paper rolls filled with hay things like that for them to play with. My rabbits would be interested and come check things out.

I am not sure what type of personality your bunny has but the things I mentioned have worked for me. Best of Luck and glad to hear you are back!

Seriously Sindriona, just tonight I caught Henry sitting next to his plate of half eaten veggies eating a piece of dry dog food that he managed to pinch!!! And he had the hide to look at me as if to say ‘excuse me – that’s mine’! when I took it from him.
And if we eat McDonald’s chips in bed (we are bugga’s for eating late night snacks in bed) Henry will line up in front of us with the dog’s waiting for us to give him a chip!
Remind me NOT to steal Usagi! Another bunny I’d have to share MY food with??? LOL!

I just sat on the floor with mine too. It didn’t take Lola very long to figure out that I usually had treats and now she comes running every time I walk into the room. Strawberry is taking a little longer to get used to us humans but he had been on his own except for getting his hay and pellets in his former life. So he was REALLY skittish when we first got him. He does come running when we walk in but he stops about a foot from us and waits where as Lola will hop around our feet and try to climb our legs if we aren’t fast enough. He has just started letting us pet him without running away immediately too.
