        Hello all!

I was wondering if anyone has any favourite tricks they like to teach their bun(nies). Theodore is a very fast learner, but so far all I’ve taught him is “circle” (of which there is a video here), “go home” (he’ll go back to his pen), “up” (stands up… not so much of a trick though because he’ll do it anyway!), and he’ll follow my finger wherever if I make a certain clicking noise with my tongue.

I think the funniest thing is sometimes when he thinks I have treats — I just use his regular pellets for treats, nothing special — he’ll run up to me and spin in a circle to see if I’ll give him something.

        How about you guys?

NOPE! Haven’t been able to teach Henry a thing! BUT – he has ‘taught’ us lot’s! LOL!

          Good on you FLR! Cheers!

Rumpus LOVES agility, though Mocha insists on going under and knocking over the jumps. The bunnies’ know what to do when I say “Get out!”. When I stick my arm straight out, one of my chicks, Beakers (she LOVES attention and me ), flys up onto my arm. My turtles use eachother as ladders to escape out of their tank.

I don’t know if this counts, but when I get my dog, I plan on doing agility and trick training.

I also am doing liberty work with my leopard Appaloosa.

Do they do it on command without treats? Or do they need treats to do their tricks?

Merlin knows ‘bedtime’ means go to his cage, but since hes become a free roam its a bit redundant! He knows ‘up’ and ‘kisses’ (standing up and wiffling my face) though, and I’m teaching Luna ‘kisses’ too. So cute ^^

The treats are sorta there to give them motivation to do what you ask. I use clicker training (I make a click with my tongue, because I can and why would I spend extra money?) and treats myself. c:

I don’t like giving treats to any of my pets, horses to turtles by hand. It just creats bad behavior and they seem to become only excided for the treat. For training, I make a pellet bases treat and add bannana, or carrot, if I used storbaught treats, i’d be using up a lot of money.

I either just drop the treat on the ground when they aren’t looking, or put it in their food buckets/bowls when practice is over.

Yes! I only use the Oxbow Timothy hay pellets Theodore eats anyway. For him, if he knows he’s getting his dinner pellets for the day, sometimes he’ll do a “circle” to try and impress me and get the pellets, lol.
