        Hi everyone!

So, my friend’s mom is an interior designer, and she said that if I wanted I could have some of her old tile (as flooring in the bunny cage). It would be medium sized squares, not a bunch of little tile or one big tile. What are you’re opinions with tile as flooring.

Also, my bunnies don’t have a sore hock issue. (I had a freak when I first got them and noticed their calluses though &nbsp

Their calluses have never bled (sorry if that’s spelled wrong) or cracked.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated

I don’t use tiles for my primary flooring, but I do currently use laminate “hardwood” planks with cotton towels and love the set-up, and they act sort of similarly to tile. I often have Theodore out in the hallway for a few hours of exercise, and that is tiled. If your buns are fine with smooth flooring, tile is kind of an awesome substrate because it’s super easy to clean, retains cold so the buns can lay down and absorb the coolness during hot days, and they can’t chew it up! The one thing that can be an issue is if they decide to do Bunny 500s or binkies on tile, they can slip as there’s no traction. But, if they’re safely enclosed, that shouldn’t result in anything too bad.

The one thing that I think is key in any habitat of course is to provide a variation of flooring. That is to say, you will likely want to provide cotton towels and/or seagrass mats and/or cardboard, etc. just so that they have something a bit softer to hang out on if they want to. If your bunnies are comfortable on slippery flooring, I’d say definitely go for it!

Thanks. I just cleaned their cage and heres what I did!

As the flooring, I found these really cute old wooden placemats, with painted pictures of spring rabbits, dogs, and horses. I used that as the flooring on the base, and they are very easy to wipe up water and urine. The second floor takes up half of the x-pen (like it covers half of the bottom sort of), and I put a big fluffy velvet mat on it that the bunnies reall enjoy. I attached fleece so that it’s hanging from the second floor to the ground, and put a little willow tunnel so the bunnies can use it to go from one side of the pen to the other. I also put a fluffy dog bed, and a slab of untreaded wood so they can chew on.
