Cinnabun has been having various issues for a few weeks but tonight got much worse (he stopped eating completely, even craisins were refused!)

I took him to the emergency clinic nearby and they are keeping him overnight to make sure that they can give him treatment if he gets any worse.

Here is my main concern that you all are able to help with (other than healing vibes for Cinnabun, as he needs lots of those):

George and CInnabun are now separated for the first time since birth. I have read about other buns becomming un-bonded during separation. Is there any way to prevent this?

If not, how do I fix it? How do I even tell it is happening? And how long should I watch them to see?

For instance, if I get Cinnabun home and they both run and kiss and cuddle, do I assume they are fine? Do I watch them for a few hours?

Any and all advice is welcomed!

I don’t know much about this, but here’s what I would do. My bunnies (bonded for 2 years, their entire life) completely forget about eachother when their doing something they really like. I would let George run around the house, go outside, and play with you.

I’m sorry that Cinnabun has gotten worse. I hope that the vet treatments will help him recover from his stasis.

Overnight is not very long, and that short length of time should not break the bond your rabbits have. Cinnabun may smell a little different to George, but hopefully that will not make much difference to him. I volunteer at a rabbit sanctuary, where rabbits are housed in pairs (and a few trios) and there are times when one rabbit has to be treated in the health building for some ailment and is separated from his or her companion. Even when the rabbits are apart for several days or even a couple of weeks, they seem to be okay when they are put back together. That doesn’t mean that all rabbits assume an instant bond after separation, but that’s the experiences that I have known of.

When I had to separate mine (fighting) they were apart for about a week, then Powder broke down the baby gate separating them and they went right back to being friends. It depends on the buns. If they act normal together, they should be fine.

                Thanks for all the input!

                Here is an update:
Cinnabun is staying at the vet longer. He will either be picked up tonight or tomorrow. George is rather depressed without him here but he is doing ok with lots of one on one time with me. I have Cinnabun’s blanket that I plan to rub on him once he gets home so hopefully he smells like himself enough that George will recognize him.

I hope your bunny feels better soon!!!!! (Cinnabun) It wouldn’t worry too much about a few days separation. It can happen that there is a problem, but don’t worry about it unless it happens.

It’s wonderful that they are back together again! I hope that Cinnabun will respond well to his treatment.
