Merlins currently half in and half our of his new coat (and looking very peculiar with it!) and there is fluff everywhere! I could make a new rabbit from everything i’ve extracted from him. I currently am just brushing with a gentle plastic brush every day for half hourly sessions and also plucking any spare white tufts i notice.

Any one else going through this? Any tips and hints on grooming?

Mocha bunny is still shedding like crazy too. I use the usually pluck the tufts of fur out (gently) and then brush with the furbuster.

It seems to me that no matter where in the world we live, our bunnies like to molt together!

Buns of a feather…. fluff together?! And Roberta that did make me laugh!
Merlin doesn’t mind brushing normally but I think the constant attentions are beginning to annoy him.. he gives me the stink eye whenever i go near with the brush now! Luna is still too nervous to let me go near her to brush sadly, so she’s going to have to be fluffy a while longer. W

Silverpaws — we brush during salads . . . that’s the only time they will let us near them with a brush! If we need extra brushing time then they get a little oat hay or willow with leaves on it.

Lola looks half bald she is molting so bad! I tried brushing her while she was eating and she immediately quit eating. I had to leave the room to get her to eat again and for the next day or so I she wouldn’t eat until I was out of sight again.

Lolabuns, it took us about 3 days with Moshi and he finally decided salad was way more important than a fighting a little grooming. Marlee will now let me slide her around and she just keeps on eating!

I have the same problem as LolaBuns. I guess I need to be more diligent and not give up so quickly. If he gets used to it that’s great… it would beat what I did last night… squashed him to the floor while grabbing handfuls of fur off his butt!

I think Starsky Moults on purpose… He loves having his bottom plucked…. His eyes get huge and he just about dislocates his head trying to reciprocate by licking you…… He goes into a state of absolute bliss…. Unlike the others who seem to think being groomed by a human is disgraceful and they really don’t want to know. This is why I get a groomer to come in to deal with the fluff butts. Two sets of hands make the whole process faster and less stressful, and the buns don’t freak out either.

When we first started, Moshi would hop to the opposite side of the salad so we took the salad away (just out of reach). He would come back over so we put the salad back in front if him, and started brushing again. This battle of wills went on until the salad was finished. After 3 days, he was fine with it. Marlee did the same thing but figured it all out the first day. Now, hairbuster = salad and they race around the bunny area when they see either one coming. Still takes two of us (one to do each bun) — hubby does Moshi and I do Marlee, then hubby keeps determined Moshi away from Marlee’s salad while we finish!

Kieko only lets us groom her if one of us is petting her head the whole time (with her, salad comes after). I am not coordinated enough to pet her head with one hand and brush with the other, so it takes both hubby and me to get the job done.
