Think I have just made the perfect litterbox for Jess!

While she is very good at using her litterbox, she won’t use it if there’s any chance of her feet getting dirty. Instead she will just pooh and wee outside it… and then further away… and then further… there is a limit to how often I’m home to change her box!

So I went and purchased a big roasting dish and a cake cooling rack.

The kitty litter goes in the roasting dish, the rack on top. I used a bulldog clip to attach the dish and rack together at the sides so it won’t slip around.

Then a sprinkling of hay goes on top, and a pile of fresh hay in the far corner. Plus a few treats.

Wees go straight down to the dish underneath, and the poohs fall through the gaps in the rack. If they get caught up in the hay, I just give it a little shake and they fall down.

It’s worked all day! No accidents! Fingers crossed……

Do you have a picture or this set up?

Sounds like a self-made litter screen. Do be aware there have been some issues with metal litter boxes though, since they are so hard and buns tend to knock their feet against the box as they jump in/out and such. You can make the same set up with a little hardware cloth (larger holes) and a plastic litter box if you have any issues.
