We have had Nutmeg for a year now. The cage she came with from previous owners (they had her 2 years) was a metal cage with a metal bottom. It was nasty! So we bought her a new cage and bigger, but it is also a metal cage with metal bottom (where poop and pee can go through) But we are thinking about going to a different cage cause this one is a pain to change and know it’s not good on her feet. But wondering if she would get use to the no bottom since she has had it for 3 years.

Yes, she’ll get use to it. With my first rabbit, I had a metal cage with a metal bottom ( I didn’t know any better) and about a year later, I bought her a cage with no bottom and she had no problem with it. It was actually so much easier to change as well. I just dumped everything into a bag. She enjoyed laying in the bedding. You should try litter box training too. It’ll keep the cage from getting nasty quick. You just have to change the litter box every day or every other day. Good luck!

Thank you Ditsymama! I figured I would have to litter box train. She likes to go up against the cage and pee out of it. So we have to lay potty pads around her cage.

              Moving to habitats and toys.
She should get used to it, and it will be a lot nicer for her feet.

Put a litter box in it with high sides and a lower entrance, then she can press her butt against the high back to pee (all rabbits seem to do it this way!)
My bunnies pretty much litter trained themselves. They live in a NIC condo with linoleum floors and only bedding (and hay) in the litter box, and even if I move the boxes they follow them around to use them. If you put bedding everywhere in the new cage she is more likely to go potty everywhere.
Just make sure your new cage is up to the living requirements, at least 8 square feet of cage space (an xpen or NIC condo on linoleum is the easiest and cheapest way to do this) of course combined with out of cage exercisetime. Good luck with the new living arrangements!
