Well, a few days ago I got myself a cute little rex bunny and it has became ultra comfortable already! I lay on the floor with my bun and she will come up and sit on my chest and beg to be pet on the nose and between the ears, then she will turn around while I pat her and start grooming me, which I think is adorable! Anyways while I play with her or I’m petting her, I can hear her make these small little honking type sounds, almost like a a baby croc/alligator! Is this just because she is happy? She was laying on my chest for about 15 minutes while I pet her and she was licking my hand and she just hasn’t stopped making the noise, even when she went to go and have some food! Also she started doing it louder!

Porky makes soft honking noises when he’s excited.

Kieko is very vocal. She honks, grunts, growls, and tooth purrs. Some of her grunts get pretty loud.

Great, I just came online to ask this same question! I lay on the rug with Jess today, feeding her hay by hand, and she has started honking. It’s really funny.

I was lying on my stomach with my knees bent so my feet were up in the air, and Jess started leaping over my legs and then running around my feet over and over. I’m wondering, is this ‘circling’ behavior or just Jess being happy and doing something fun? She’s definitely happy today, I did a 14 hour shift yesterday and a 9 hour one today so she’s been home alone a lot lately. Today I had epic bunny dancing, lots of flopping, lying out stretched and even flopping so much she was on her back with belly exposed! And she’s decided she likes flopping up against my legs. Looks like she could be a snuggly bunny after all.

I’m really pleased that she is so happy and is seeking out my company – she comes up and nudges my foot if I’m sitting on the couch – but if what she was doing is ‘circling’ behavior is it time to get her spayed?

Websites say that honking is a happy sexual noise, and Merlin has started honking when he approaches Luna BUT he also honks when he’s tucking into a big meal so…. I think your bun is just happy :p

Yep, sounds like content honking to me. Theodore honks when he’s tucking in to some fresh greens or enjoying a grooming session.
