I was supposed to be getting a female rabbit to keep my male company but I just didn’t have a good feeling about it as the female was younger and I would have to wait a while to get her spayed so they wouldn’t be able to be together for a while. Also my male is a house rabbit and I love having him indoors but as I live with my parents they have said that if I get another one they will have to go outside in a shed which I know they will have  plenty of room in but I just feel like I want to keep him indoors.

Is it selfish to not get him a friend?

I am keeping an eye out for any females up for adoption that have already been spayed but cant find any that are local to me (Sheffield, UK)

So I guess what I am trying to ask is if he is alright without a rabbit companion? he gets lots of attention from everyone in the house but does he need a rabbit friend?

I would always choose keeping my bunny indoors and him having only human companions over having him outdoors with a bunny companion. Many bunnies live long happy lives with just their human buddies, and honestly, he’s likely to get much more human attention indoors where everyone else is.

Agree with JR. Out doors you have to deal with heat, fly strike, etc a lot more and indoors they are safer. You wouldn’t be around him as much, so you’d not notice illnesses as quickly.

If you can’t have another bunny, then you don’t need another bunny. Many do fine without a bond mate. Mine are bonded but they spend the majority of their day on opposite sides of the room, barely interacting. Powder prefers human attention and Stickers prefers to be alone. *shrug*

Absolutely alright. My rabbit Bobby is an only child and he’s perfectly happy and while he probably would like a rabbit friend if he had one, he’s perfectly fine and spoiled on his own. I don’t feel selfish at all…I feel it’s the best thing for me too at this point in my life.

Single bunnies do just fine-it’s not necessary for them to have a friend as long as they get lots of attention from their human companions.
I think it is way better for him to live the singleton life indoors than outdoors with a friend.
