I have had my Dwarf lop bunny Butterscotch for just under a year now and I think she might me angry at me because I haven’t been spending much time with her! For the first month I had her she was very shy so I would take her unto my bedroom and try and get to know her, finally she broke out of her shyness and I was able to pick her up and she would willingly let me pet her. Since then I have not been spending much time with her as I am in my final years of school and I have been overly busy with assignments and balancing my social life. I would still goto her cage of an afternoon and pet her and give her a treat, but rarely would I take her out because of all my assignments ect.

So last week I went to feed her a piece of banana (her favourite treat!) and she completely ignored me, I then tried to pet her and she ran away, so I sat and I waited for about 10 minutes but she just kept giving me the cold shoulder. At this point I got a little annoyed and upset so I left. The next day the same thing happened. So the past couple of days I have been taking her out of her cage and into my room after school to roam around while I sit on the floor and complete my homework, she hasn’t once came near me the whole time. Usually she would get curious with what I am doing and come over and nudge me and then climb all over me! I am really worried about her! Is she angry at me because I have been neglecting her? I’m making it a priority that I spend time with her everyday, not only while she’s in her cage but taking her out too, but she just doesn’t seem interested in me anymore? I want her to love me again and be affectionate. Please Help!

No, that’s not anger – that is just being a grown up rabbit. You should not get annoyed and upset – remember rabbit’s aren’t people and they don’t get mad or ignore like humans do.

Rabbits just aren’t cuddlers and if they were when they were younger they may not be as much as when they mature.

Since you will be home more often just continue to spend more time with her.

Sarita, I kinda wonder sometimes! I found poop stains on my M&Ms fleece a few days ago so had to check for poopy butt. Moshi has gotten over being picked up, but Marlee is still giving me the bunny butt! She’ll hop up and sit on my back if I lay face down on the floor, but if I even talk to her when she’s not on my back she will hop in front of me and sit with her back to me, occasionally glancing around at me. If I touch her, she will hop away with a foot flick. Big attitude in a tiny little package and waaaay too cute to be mad at!
