        Hello!

I’ve just got two 15 week old Flemish Giants, a boy and a girl.

        IMAG1116.jpg
        15 weeks

Their names are Hugh and Jess, I’ve had them for a week now. Hugh is the solid fawn and Jess the Vienna? marked one. They are probably not purebreds, some pedantic people on a fb group have already told me that they aren’t ‘real ‘ Flemishes. They also gave me lots of $*&! for the bok choi in the photo….. I only use greens to coax them out or into different places! So yes I do know about scours, my buns get ad lib hay and pellets.

They are going to be pets, and they lived inside in my ensuite bathroom for a week, with the ability to run around my bedroom.

Jess behaved wonderfully and is naturally toilet trained. She’s a little shyer than Hugh though. So Jess now lives in the lounge. She loves doing the ‘Bunny 500’ and running laps of the lounge/kitchen area. We have polished wood floors so she skids around a bit when excited. Her favourite spot is lying behind the fireplace, where the tiles get warm.

Hugh is more boisterous, but pooed and wee’d everywhere. He’s seeing the vet tomorrow about getting fixed! He’s been banished to a hutch out on the deck. I do feel bad about that but once he’s fixed I will reintroduce him to Jess and inside. In the meantime he’s bored and messing up the cage. Luckily he’s worked out how to climb the ramp to the upstairs bit.

Thank you! The last time I had bunnies it was when I was a child, so this is all quite different, I have a lot to learn. What would we do without the internet???

              They are dolls.

Ignore the people on facebook. Hang out with us, instead. We love playing guess the breed on random pet store and rescue bunnies, so we aren’t going to take points away for nor meeting breed standard perfectly. And our main concern with feeding our rabbits is providing a healthy and yummy diet that supports a long happy life instead of rapidly putting on weight, so yay for bok choy and other greens (though introduce them slowly.)

Big welcome to you and your bunnies, who are adorable!
Don’t listen to the haters on Facebook, chat with us instead. We know that bok-Choy is fine for bunnies, and “mixed” is my favourite breed. My bunny Lionel is a so called “lionhead” but really, he could be a mix of anything. (We know he is at least part lionhead!)

I can’t believe people would pick you apart for these little (or… giant!) darlings! I think bok choy is high in calcium and if fed too regularly can produce gas in rabbits, that’s the only reason I can think of for them to pick at that. But it’s not like it’s dangerous or something! Certainly not a reason to be rude. xP

Welcome to the forum! Hang out with us and ignore the haters.
