I just thought this would be worth a share for all you bun/animal lovers.

The UK Government has announced it plans to introduce a ban on animal testing of household products before the election in May 2015.

This would make me very happy, I’ve been using buav approved cruelty free household products and cosmetics for quite a while. Problem is the current government promised to reduce the number of tests on animals before the previous elections and never kept their promise, that number actually went up so I’ll believe it when I see it. Fingers crossed though.

Aye, I know it’s all just words and guff now, and it would be nice to see it actually put into action… But, at least it’s in the public eye…

And same, a vegan, (Accept the cats and ferrets) cruelty free household here!

Well at least they are talking about it. That would never happen here.

How sad am I RS – I thought the days of animal testing was over and done with…… I really believed with all the previous uproars world wide it was now classed as unacceptable? Luckily I don’t buy much of anything these days and when I buy meat, chicken and eggs – I always buy and pay for free range BUT I read the label….. I buy the ‘product’ that states that the chicken (for example) gets lets out through the day and ushered back into the barn at night.
I get that some animals are produced to feed us – but I believe in quality of life (for everyone/thing). BUT testing?!?!? Unless it is for medical research (even then, don’t be cruel), I don’t get or understand why this is still common practice? Not that I have taken much notice recently (naughty me!) but I’m sure a lot of the products I buy state on the label ‘not tested on animals’. I thought that was strange, cause I thought nothing was these days?????
You opened my eyes again RS – thank you!

AndHenry – I know tons of people who simply don’t care. It makes me sad because it’s completely unnecessary to test cosmetics and household products on animals. Actually, there is a huge misconception that it is required by some law. It isn’t. Only on medications and “active ingredients” require animal testing.

You would think by now, with all of the products we have to choose from, that every possible ingredient and combination of ingredients has already been tested and they could finally stop unnecessary testing! If a product could help an animal when all other possibilities have been exhausted then fine (same for human trials), but to torture an animal so that a person can have a “new and improved” floor cleaner or eye shadow, forget it. I’ll probably show my age now, but we have too many things to choose from as it is!
