I just want to thank all of you (Roberta, among others) who recommended nasturtium for rabbits. I decided to grow nasturtium this summer and my bunnies absolutely love it. A lot of other stuff I’ve tried growing especially for the bunnies has been recieved with genuine dismay and total shunning (marigolds, borago, carrot tops etc), but the nasturtiums get devoured as soon as I serve them up =)

They certainly love their ‘sturtiums… Piglet particularly looks forward to them coming up and flowering… They’ll self seed every year too.

Mine also love wild fennel season… They are enjoying the bounty at the moment…

Oh and make sure they don’t get any of the little fat seeds… They’re not good for them.

My mother has fennel, not wild, but it looks the same. They never developed the thick stems as intended (she bought them as plants late last season) just an amazing lot of dill-like leaves and now yellow flowers. The bunnies do love those leaves =)

My mother also has a mulberry tree and thanks to AndHenry, my bunnies now get mulberry leaves as well.

You know nasturtiums are really good for humans too, if you ever feel like snacking with them.
