Hello everyone. Today I noticed that my rabbit’s sclera or the whites of the eyes were getting red/pink on his left eye. His left pupil seems to also be smaller than his right pupil. He can still open his left eye, but at times I notice that he closes it. I don’t see any discharge or discoloration at all. Just pinks around his sclera. Please help!

I took him to the vet yesterday for his leg and he didn’t seem to have this eye problem. His legs are doing fine btw. I don’t have the money or the ride to go to the vet again, so is there anything I can do?

If he’s closing his eye, it’s hurting/bothering him. I’m guessing the vet would want to do a stain to see if there’s a scratch on the eye itself. It also sounds like he may have gotten something in his eye (a piece of hay maybe?). Eyes aren’t something you really want to take risks with. Can you call your vet and ask foe advice?

Maybe his eye for poked during handling yesterday at vet. Or when giving his meds.
What meds was he given for legs/spine?

ETA: I also think a quick phone call to the clinic wouldn’t hurt. Also check if there are known side affects with the medication.
It does sound more like eyes been irritated by something. You could give it a flush with saline solution to see if that helps.
